MUSI 049B. Performance: Balinese Gamelan (Embedded Study Abroad)

A two-week study abroad trip to Indonesia during winter break 2023-4, featuring immersion in the rich performing arts and cultural traditions of Bali. There will be nine days of instruction and rehearsals in Gamelan leading to a performance in collaboration with local artists. In addition, the course includes one day of temple visits; one day of excursions to important historical and cultural sites; and a free day for students to explore on their own. Course enrollment is limited to ten of the students who were enrolled in MUSI 049, fall 2023.
