POLS 044. Markets and Morality (TH) The course will investigate the place that markets and market outcomes should have in a free society. Topics covered will include: competing concepts of freedom; the proper sphere of market activity (what should and should not be for sale); theories of fairness and distributive justice; and what should be done to balance freedom and equality in the economic sphere.Prerequisites: ECON1 and ONE of the following POLS 11, 12, 34, 47, 100, or 101; PHIL 11, 21 41, 101, or 121.
