SPAN 080. Los hijos de la Malinche: Representaciones culturales de la Revolución Mexicana This course will examine the representations of the Mexican Revolution in novels, short stories, essays, theatre, films, and corridos by Mexican authors and artists. We will pay attention to the complexity of perspectives generated by this sociopolitical upheaval, whose legacy has been riddled with ambivalence. The objective is to gain a critical understanding of how and why the Revolution became such a fundamental part of Mexican identity and culture. Topics include: political disenchantment, solitude, class division, gender roles, national myths, and identity construction. Prerequisite: SPAN 022 , SPAN 023 , the equivalent, or permission of the instructor. Humanities. 1 credit. Eligible for LALS Spring 2026. Buiza.
