RELG 003. The Bible to Qur’an This course introduces students to the Hebrew Bible, New Testament, and Qur’an by exploring their similarities and differences through comparative study of shared figures, concepts, themes, and narrative structures. Through close reading of selected passages in translation, students examine how these texts converge and diverge in their understandings of specific figures-such as Abraham, Moses, Sarah, Hagar, Isaac, Ishmael, Jesus, Mary, and God-as well as in their understandings of who constitutes the people of Israel. Students will learn to read the three texts and their interpretations both comparatively and within their own literary and historical contexts. Humanities. 1 credit. Eligible for GSST, PEAC Fall 2025. Kessler. Fall 2026. Kessler. Catalog chapter: Religion Department website: http://www.swarthmore.edu/religion
