ENGL 001H. Research and Writing Across the Disciplines This course explores how research generates and is integrated into your writing. Together, we will investigate the scholarly and rhetorical strategies that shape academic inquiry. Students will undertake research and writing projects that draw upon qualitative, quantitative, and textual research traditions, with special emphasis on how research-based writing is organized and how students can effectively integrate outside scholarship into their own written projects. This course is open to all students, but especially well-suited to sophomores, transfer students, or first-year students seeking a more indepth exploration of academic writing. Through frequent practice, class discussions, and in-class activities, students will become familiar with all aspects of the writing process and will develop their ability to write for academic audiences.
