ARTT 054F. Sculpture II: Casting

This intermediate level sculpture course will introduce students to a variety of different casting methods and concepts. Students will learn techniques for making one and two-part molds and will be encouraged to work from both sculpted forms and existing objects.  Over the semester students’ molds and cast forms will become more complex and intricate. We will use the resources of the MakerSpace extensively and will integrate the CNC-router into a casting and mold-making project, combining digital and analog means of replication. This class will also include a field trip to a foundry in Philadelphia and an introduction to metal casting.
Prerequisite: Either ARTT 005A, ARTT 060B, or ARTT 006E.
