ENVS 032A. Water, Nature, Culture This course explores water as the essential force shaping everyday life. From ethnography and scientific reports to film and fiction, this course investigates the multiple forms and meanings of water and its vital role in environmental studies. Beyond the classroom, we will observe and learn about water in Swarthmore and Philadelphia and discuss the kinds of (more than human) lives that water cultivates. Students will be tasked with selecting and observing a water site of their choosing and will produce a final report based on original analysis. Eligible for ENVS. Social Sciences. 1 credit.
