ENVS 013. Our Trash Our trash systems are designed so that throwing things away can be a thoughtless act. However, thought is required to effectively and ethically deal with the colossal amount of trash produced in the U.S. Waste disposal can have significant and often deleterious effects on vulnerable communities, local environments and the global climate. This course focuses on understanding the environmental and socioeconomic impacts of U.S. waste management processes and the science of decomposition. As part of this course, students will participate in a practicum “zero waste” waste prevention project in conjunction with community partners. Multiple field trips.
