ENGL 045. Modern British Poetry Steven Spender called Modern poets “recognizers,” creating a complex, fractured art out of circumstances they experienced as extraordinary, unprecedented. This course examines the responses of British male and female poets (and some American expatriates) to the wars, shifting beliefs, complicated gender roles, and other dislocations of early 20th century life. 20th/21st c.
