ARTH 074. History of Photography This course will address the history of photography, from its invention in 1826 to the present, primarily through discussion of readings about particular processes (beginning with paper and glass plate negatives), practitioners, and theoretical approaches. Central themes will include landscape, war, social documentary, and photography’s interventions in the arts, from the Victorian era through surrealism and recent conceptualists. Humanities. 1 credit.
