PSYC 001. Introduction to Psychology An introduction to the basic processes underlying human and animal behavior-studied in experimental, social, and clinical contexts. Analysis centers on the extent to which normal and abnormal behaviors are determined by learning, motivation, neural, cognitive, and social processes.
In addition to the course lectures, students are required to participate in a mini-seminar for several weeks during the semester. Each meeting is 1 hour and 15 minutes, typically during the Monday or Wednesday (1:15-4 p.m.), or Friday (2:15-5 p.m.) class periods. Students will be assigned to a group after classes begin but should keep at least one period open.
Students also act as participants in Psychology Department student and faculty research projects. PSYC 001 is a Prerequisite for further work in the department.
