LITR 045R. Poetry in Translation/Translating Poetry (Cross-listed as RUSS 045 ) This course will study the history, practice, and politics of poetic translation from antiquity to the present, including works from a variety of languages. The course has a strong practical component: all students will work on translations of their own throughout the semester (from languages they know or by working with native speakers or literal versions), and the final project may include a portfolio of translations. Especially suitable for students interested in comparative literature or creative writing. Humanities. 1 credit.
