RUSS 116. The Petersburg Myth in Russian Literature This course examines the importance of St. Petersburg in Russian history, society, and culture. Themes include the discourse of East versus West in defining Russian national identity; reform and modernization in Russian history; death and suffering in Russian history; and the relationship between center and periphery in the Russian and Soviet context.
